University of Twente

Outra Cidade (Telecomunicações)

The University of Twente (UT) has started a five-year research program on people-centered robotics that crosses the boundaries of the University's faculties and research institutes. The program aims to further strengthen the position and visibility of the Twente region as an influential and active player for robotics research, development, testing and implementation. Two of the core research areas in the Twente Robotics program are tele-robotics and wearable robotics; important application domains are healthcare and maintenance & inspection.

We are looking for two post-doctoral researchers to initiate and carry out research that connects the various robotics departments involved in Twente Robotics. Do you want to contribute to running projects, but also gain experience in acquiring funds and initiating new projects to make scientific and societal impact in the area of robotics? Then this may be the job for you.

As a post-doctoral researcher at Twente Robotics

  • You are a great teammate working on a broad range of robotics topics with special focus on tele-robotics and wearable robotics;
  • You will have a senior role and be engaged in running national and international projects;
  • Besides conducting research and publishing its results, you will support acquiring funds from our national science foundation, the European Union, companies, or other resources to start new projects;
  • You will function as a bridge among the various groups within Twente Robotics;
  • You will be involved in the supervision of PhD students.

You will be embedded in the department of Biomechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology (www.utwente.nl/en/et/be) or in the department of Robotics and Mechatronics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (www.ram.ewi.utwente.nl). However, your primary focus will be cross-departmental while operating in the fields of wearable robotics, tele-robotics or medical robotics.

  • You have a PhD in an engineering subject relevant for robotics;
  • You have experimental and theoretical skills;
  • You are motivated to collaborate in a team, and to explore areas beyond your own;
  • You are fluent in English.

The start of the project is as soon as possible. Please submit your application until November 26, 2018 and include

New technology which leads change, innovation and progress in society. The University of Twente is the only campus university of the Netherlands; divided over five faculties we provide more than fifty educational programmes. We have a strong focus on personal development and talented researchers are given scope for carrying out groundbreaking research.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status or disability status. Because of our diversity values we do particularly support women to apply.

The faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) comprises three disciplines that shape Information and Communication Technology. ICT is more than communication. In almost every product we use mathematics, electronics and computer technology and ICT now contributes to all of societies' activities. The faculty works together intensively with industrial partners and researchers in the Netherlands and abroad and conducts extensive research for external commissioning parties and funders. The research which enjoys a high profile both at home and internationally, has been accommodated in the multidisciplinary research institutes: Mesa+ Institute, TechMed Centra and Digital Society Institute.
