What?s the role about?

This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger and financial statements. This includes performing month-end activities, calculating and posting journals (including accruals), GL account reconciliations, reviewing and analysing the General Ledger.

What you'll do?

The Accountant will be required to execute the following responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting support and month end tasks
  • Review and analyse information from the general ledger and other accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness, and take corrective action, as appropriate
  • Address audit enquiries / investigation
  • Perform daily accounting tasks and the processing journal entries
  • Execute period-end accounting entries by posting manual journal entries and processing recharges (e.g., accruals, currency conversions, etc.)
  • Perform balance sheet accounts reconciliations
  • Support in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Support in the preparation of month-end and year-end close processes
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with their capability
  • Support with project related activities
  • Responsibilities during Transition period:
    • Perform knowledge transfer through ?train, observe, support & perform? phases, representing Porto SSC with local Entity team
    • Travel to local Entity office
    • Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process flows
    • Support integration of newly transitioned processes into SSC; during training, hyper care and beyond
    • Train new GBS team members in processes
    • Contribute to continuous process improvements
    • Escalate issues and feedback from local Entities

What are we looking for?

For this role, we are looking for a person having the following skills and experience :

  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field
  • Proven 3 years of relevant experience as a GL accountant
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Strong financial, analytical and communication skills
  • Self-organisation and time management
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, processes and workflow technology
  • SSC/GBS experience is an advantage
  • Member of a professional accounting body (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, OROC, OCC or equivalent) would be valuated
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
