ENCODE Group consists of 2 business lines and has currently 3 offices in Hoogvliet-Rotterdam (NL), Urmond (NL) and Ploiesti (Romania).
With in total more than 150 people, ENCODE Group is serving clients in Oil & Gas, Offshore- (petro)chemical-, (Green) Energy- and building industry.

The Badger Company is the engineering company of ENCODE Group, executing projects mainly for disciplines as Piping, Structural, Process, Electrical & Instrumentation. Current execution center of the engineering projects is our office in Ploiesti.

A1 Werkplan is the company for (temporary) technical labour. We serve our clients with manpower such as engineers, pipefitters, welders, etc in the industry. But also plumbers, masons, carpenters, sun roof mechanics, etc

Job

ENCODE Group, privately held, is expanding to grow and diversify its business and origin of resources. Part of this Strategy is to establish an affiliate in Portugal, to expand both the activities of The Badger Company and A1 Werkplan.

ENCODE Group expects the following main tasks at this affiliate:

• 
  Back office of A1 Werkplan for search and recruitment of labour to work on projects of ENCODE group which project predominantly take place in western Europe. ENCODE group already has an extensive business based on the contribution of its Portuguese staff. Once the affiliate is established, the existing business shall be channelled thru the affiliate and the GM is expected to support the Dutch office in the demand in staff at any given moment.

• Additional capacity of engineering & design staff as Engineering execution centre of The Badger Company in support of and in cooperation with the projects executed at the Dutch and Rumanian office , either by partnerships with suitable and approved local companies and/or by its own in-house staff.
• Engineering & design for projects in Portuguese speaking countries to execute completely in the new office or in combination with (disciplines) in Ploiesti-Romania.
• Sales in Portuguese speaking countries.

ENCODE Group is seeking an experienced manager to join us who has earned his/her stripes in the engineering and/or the construction industry. You?ll have to be a born leader with previous (project-) managerial, engineering and ideally some sales experience. You?ll have proven experience overseeing operations, which have had to include financial, human resources and communications aspects. You?re an expert communicator with a strong ability to delegate responsibilities and collaborate across a wide range of departments. Ultimately, you?re driven by ambition to bring the affiliate to an independent asset within ENCODE Group and the desire to lead a team toward maximum productivity and efficiency.

As a group, ENCODE Group relates its success directly to the strength of and cooperation within our management team. You will be responsible for and leading the affiliate, however with a strong cooperation with your peers within ENCODE Group and under supervision of the Board of Directors to whom you report. Occasional international travel is required.

Objectives of this Role

• Establish the affiliate, both as a legal structure and most suitable location.
• Ensure ENCODE Group its tools, procedures and minimum certification will be implemented.
• Hire the required staff to support and expand the local operations.
• Achieve the above listed tasks.
• Oversee employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement
• Uphold high standards of excellence and ethics
• Safeguard the high quality and safety standards ENCODE Group upholds with pride.
• Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships
• Establish new clients and win projects in Portugal and in Portuguese speaking countries
• Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals and assuring their completion, while accomplishing your own goals
• Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing staff to achieve sales, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives
• Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished on time
• Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans
• Delegate responsibilities to the best employees to perform them while enforcing all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values
• Prepare and execute sales and marketing programs including campaigns, events, exhibitions etc.

Proven experience in a managerial role

Strong decision-making capabilities
Above-average communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
Proven ability to develop and maintain financial plans
Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable
Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
Having worked in the Engineering & Design industry.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor?s degree in engineering, preferably with post-bachelor business management degree or related training
At least 10 years experience in leading roles in (projects) in the Engineering & Construction industry
Preferably working experience outside Portugal in the Engineering & Construction industry
Fluent in Portuguese and the English language
Drivers license (without points deducted)
Able to travel without restrictions and limitations.
