About the Team

Cleerly's Core Lab, with employees in Lisbon, Portugal as well as the US, provides strategic quality assurance services to users of our technology. We are a team of expert imaging analysts dedicated to Cleerly's purpose of creating a world without heart attacks. The team is poised for an exciting period of growth as Cleerly ramps up its commercial operations.

About the Opportunity

The VP, Core Lab reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is accountable for the successful operation of all Core Lab activities globally. The person in this role will either be based in Lisbon, Portugal or be able to spend meaningful time there on a consistent basis. This role is perfect for someone who loves to implement TPS, VAVE, and/or LEAN methodologies, is an experienced people and operational leader, and has a passion for our purpose of creating a world without heart attacks.

Responsibilities

  • Process & Operational Design & Management
    • Design and manage highly repeatable, auditable, and measurable lean processes that lead to very high quality results at high velocity.
    • Leveraging results of audits, retrospectives, and client feedback develop methods to continuously improve.
    • Collaborating with the BI team, develop dashboards that track KPIs and enable near real time visibility of current outputs versus benchmarks to quickly identify variance from SLA.
    • Working with other leaders as needed, write SOPs to codify best practices and train the Core Lab team and others accordingly.
    • Develop cross-functional communication processes to ensure effective knowledge transfer and ongoing communication throughout the client and research initiative lifecycle.
    • Drive Core Lab capacity planning, ensuring alignment between future business needs and internal resource availability.
    • Coordinate with Client Services organization in designing and managing new client onboarding processes.
    • Implement technology that eases operational processes of the Core Lab.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Drive coordination with the Technology organization in order to: (1) define and prioritize product requests that improve Core lab efficiency and quality; and (2) support the effective testing and releasing of new features.
    • Serve as Core Lab point person for client and internal escalations.
  • People & Organizational Leadership
    • Hire, retain, and develop the best talent.
    • Create organizational designs and methods that optimize resource utilization.
    • Design and implement a multi-geography strategy to avoid a single point of failure and to maximize time zone coverage.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role requiring the design and management of complex operational processes using TPS, VAVE, and/or LEAN methodologies
  • Strong experience in operations or systems engineering is required
  • Some experience in health care is required
  • Experience in cross sectional imaging (CT, US, nuclear medicine or MRI) and cardiovascular is helpful, not required
  • Highly analytical, data driven, process oriented, systems thinker
  • Collaborative, agile, and solution oriented cross-functional leader
  • Proven experience as a talent developer and team builder
  • Must have the desire to work in a very fast paced startup environment
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification or similar is highly desirable
