Mercer Portugal is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Lisbon or Porto office:

JUNIOR ACTUARIAL CONSULTANT

We are looking for talented and ambitious pensions actuaries who are keen to further their career, focused on consulting with clients. If you like the idea of helping clients achieve financial security, excel at providing technical actuarial analysis, and have an eye for detail in revieweing client deliverables, an actuarial consulting career at Mercer, with direct client contact, might be a great fit for you!

We will count on you to:

  • Support the client team on project management, day-to-day client contact and problem resolution;
  • Calculate and analyze special retirement projects;
  • Undertake actuarial modelling, spreadsheet modelling and calculations, including valuations, individual calculations, regular updates, actuarial factors and accounting work;
  • Support the development of more junior colleagues;
  • Liaise with other Mercer business areas to deliver a streamlined service to clients;
  • Be involved in ad-hoc project work as required, for example, risk management exercises, redundancy projects, etc.

What you need to have:

  • Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance or similar;
  • 2 years of actuarial pension related work experience;
  • Excellent English language proficiency;
  • Excellent planing and organizational skills in order to prioritise and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks;
  • Strong problem solving skills & ability to clearly articulate complex issues;
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft tools, mainly PowerPoint and Excel.
