Working in Thermo Fisher Scientific?s, Microbiology Division. The Senior Commercial Systems Analyst plays a key role in the Commercial Finance team. This individual will join a small, tight knit team, to help maintain and enhance our various BI and reporting systems. The successful candidate will have solid understanding of a variety of systems and will act as a Subject Matter Expert for data, systems and analytics.

Time will be divided between leading the improvement, maintenance and support of the existing systems/processes and working on an array of exciting and challenging projects to deliver new features, capabilities, and analytics. You will get the opportunity to work with talented people from across the business, and to use your creativity and problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles, building novel and robust MI/BI products.
This role will be working remotely and we welcome applications from all European countries.
Key Responsibilities:
Business partnering & Analysis

  • Working closely with leadership level stakeholders to deliver commercial insights and solutions.
  • Partnering with data owners to identify and correct any data that gives rise to integrity/consistency issues

Data Visualization & Analytics

  • Partnering with Commercial, Sales Ops, Marketing and finance teams to understand and implement commercial analysis using the available BI tool sets. This involves the extraction of data from available sources to provide easy to consume meaningful analysis in the form of reports and dashboards
  • Provide expert data driven insights to push more profitable growth, including product segmentation and highlight to decision makers opportunities of higher margin products.
  • Create, maintain and monitor exception reports around Cognos BI data

Process development & Improvement

  • Lead the global deployment, improvement, and maintenance of the Cognos BI system
  • Drive continuous improvement (PPI) activity in area of responsibility both process and system
  • Work with business and technical application owners to optimize the flow of data through the organization and into Cognos/DataMart?s

Financial Reporting & forecasting

  • Support and lead the Month end and AOP processes from a BI system point of view

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with financial and commercial data
  • Significant Cognos BI experience
  • Experience of translating user requirements into formal report development specifications
  • Strong skills in accessing and using analytical tools (SQL, Excel, Relational Databases)
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing
  • Experience of working with multiple data sources, overcoming imperfect and incomplete data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with non-finance people
  • Experience of working in a non-structured environment and a drive to improve process
  • A self-starter with experience of creating insightful reports from scratch
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including VBA
  • Previous experience of SAP and Hyperion also advantageous

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Science/Engineering/Mathematics/Economics or Business/Finance/Accounting disciplines
  • Wider Cognos experience, including Framework Manager, Event Studio, Report Bursting, Cognos Security
  • Practical experience of ETL (Extract/Transform/Load)
  • Practical experience of Data Warehouse design and deployment
