Our Client is a prestigious Multinational Bank that is now looking for a Legal/Consultancy & Governance Associate to join its Operational Risk and Compliance team, based in Lisbon.

  • Analyse and identify risks with reference to the transactions entered into by and products/services offered by the Bank including derivatives, repos, bilateral and syndicate financing and in connection with other activities of the Bank in relation to which the Legal Department is responsible for providing legal support and suggest ways to mitigate such risks;
  • Participate in projects of the Bank and its group in which Legal is involved;
  • Advise and support Risk and Finance areas on legal and governance aspects of key regulatory deliverables such as ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan and policies;
  • Help to support the Board/Supervisory Board and the EC in ensuring that legal and regulatory corporate governance requirements are being implemented in order to mitigate related risks;
  • Help to organise and prepare Board/Supervisory Board and EC meetings (notices, circulation of board packs, drafting of the agenda, minutes, written resolutions etc.) and induction to new directors;
  • Assist the Holding (Societário Brazil) on relevant (PT and UK) corporate affairs and related matters;
  • Advise on emerging corporate governance issues and assist in the implementation of the required changes;
  • Help to maintain the statutory records of the Bank and Group companies based in Portugal, and in the UK, ensuring the required filings/registration are completed;
  • Prepare or review institutional presentations, reports (including Annual Strategic and Directors Reports) offering materials etc. in connection with corporate governance matters;
  • Work with external counsel where necessary.

  • Qualified lawyer (preferably graduated in Portugal with at least 2 years of recent experience or knowledge in the fields relevant for the responsibilities above);
  • Strong academic record;
  • Excellent drafting skills in both Portuguese and English;
  • Used to working to very high standards of accuracy/high attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of EU financial sector regulation would be an advantage;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both Portuguese and English;
  • Pragmatic and practical with strong analytical and organisational skills;
  • Fast learner and able to multi-task/work under time pressure.
