The purpose of this role is to implement commodity strategies globally and manage Suppliers QCD Performance to improve competitiveness of GKN Automotive.

Key Responsibilities The Commodity Procurement Manager will be required to execute the following responsibilities:

Strategy and Deployment:

  • Contribute to market intelligence and internal demand optimization initiatives for all commodities
  • Participate in and support the Commodity Procurement Directors in construction of commodity segment strategies and ensure accurate deployment across the product line
  • Participate in supplier selection for the Commodity according to GKN strategic criteria
  • Ensure, by programme, that only suppliers on the Approved Vendor List are used and that Programme and Plant buyers adhere to this
  • Develop and implement a Supply base convergence plan consistent with the commodity strategies.

Suppliers QCD performances:

  • Submit objectives for commodity QCD to commodity purchase Director (split by Plant and by Supplier)
  • Measure and monitor supplier performance follow-up and manage all necessary action plans to ensure budget targets are achieved (negotiation, resourcing, VA/VE, etc)
  • Actively participate to the negotiation with the main suppliers
  • Support the Commodity globally with any critical supplier issues

Resources & Management:

  • Develop and share Best Practices
  • Ensure supplier risk assessment process/policy adhered to
  • Ensure all purchasing standards and processes adhered to
  • Secure KPI for PT, BCC share and cost
  • Underline and maintain the global Strategy and execution of the same

Reporting and System:

  • Ensure transparency and accuracy of data in the purchasing information systems
  • Consolidate commodities report on a monthly basis
  • Adhere to internal procedures and statutory requirements for compliant environmental procurement and storage of all materials.
  • Adhere to all relevant requirements of the GKN Integrated Loss Prevention policy and local regulations.

The skills and capabilities we are looking for are:

  • Master degree in engineering with a specialization in international purchasing, would be desirable
  • Experienced in international business and commodity knowledge of metal components/bearings
  • Former experience as a Commodity Manager or minimum 3 years? experience as a Plant Buyer in an industrial environment
  • Experienced working within a global matrix organisation
  • Results oriented with good written and oral communications skills, in English
  • Leadership and charisma
  • Availability to travel (around 40% of the time)
