Job Description

  • Scope of Position:

    Expeditors is seeking a Tax Manager for Portugal.

    This position reports to the Country Controller and covers all tax related topics in the country.

    The role is very hands-on and requires the candidate to be involved in the preparation and support for all direct and indirect taxes, including current and deferred income tax provisions under U.S. generally, Accepted Accounting Principles, tax return to tax provision reconciliations, overall understanding to assist in any local Portuguese tax topic, assist in tax controversy, and defend filing positions in audit proceedings and assist in income tax research & analysis.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • TOC number is a MUST
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in Public Accounting and/or industry.
  • Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Technically proficient and have strong accounting, analytical, financial modeling and research skills.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to manage a team of experienced professionals.
  • Strong tax provision experience.
  • Strong knowledge in corporate income tax, COFINS, VAT
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (specifically Excel), electronic tax compliance systems (preferably, CorpTax), and financial query tools (preferably, HFM Financial).
