The Role

The overall purpose of this role is to work with the rest of the HR function and business to ensure we have the leadership and people to make sustained profit and returns.

Working as part of a team, you will provide a full professional HR service to the European business based in Lisbon in the areas of Operations, Finance, Claims and Underwriting. The role will be based in the Lisbon office . In this role you will act as the primary HR contact for your client group and you will work closely with managers to deliver professional and pragmatic HR support. This is a full generalist role with a strong emphasis on employee relations.


The Team

The European business is supported by Operations based in Lisbon. In this role you will report to the Head of HR Iberia & Ireland and work within the Human Resources team in Lisbon.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coach Managers on employee issues such as managing performance
  • Manage the annual talent mapping process and succession planning process for your client groups
  • Analyse the annual employee engagement results for the teams within your client group, present the results and work with the business to create action to increase engagement
  • Work closely with line managers to achieve business objectives through demonstrating best practice in areas such as recruitment, reward and remuneration, talent management, employee engagement and employee relations
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures in line with legislation, and take ownership for agreeing and implementing these changes
  • Provide regular insights on employee leaver, joiner and internal promotion data that form part of our KPIs
  • Deliver training solutions to groups of employees (up to Management level) on topics such as performance and recruitment and support learning and development activity
  • Manage employment contracts, benefits enrolment, occupational health and new hires induction for the client group
  • Ensure Workday is accurate for the client group on a timely manner
  • Support the Head of HR with ad hoc projects or ad hoc generalist work outside of your immediate client group
  • Employee relations ? end to end management of employee relations issues including disciplinary, settlements, grievances, absence and performance management

Competencies & Experience


  • Human Resources, Management of Law Degree
  • 3 years previous experience as a generalist Human Resources Business Partner in a multinational organisation
  • Personal credibility and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and deliver on results
  • Customer focused, with an aptitude for being solution?s delivery orientated
  • Solid understanding of Portuguese employment legislation
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written - English Advanced Level is mandatory and Spanish is a plus
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and independently, as required
  • Highly organised, independent, self-motivated and attentive to details
  • Discreet and professional ? able to handle confidential/sensitive information and involve the appropriate people
  • Experience across a range of HR activities in a professional HR team and ?hands on? approach
  • Drive / energy and a track record of attaining high standards
  • A proactive self-starter who demonstrates initiative
