The Role


As a subject matter professional in Pricing, this role is responsible for analysing data in order to inform underwriting decisions and strategy. Working with the European Underwriting Management team and country underwriting teams, the role is responsible for delivering analysis that helps the business make better underwriting decisions. Includes active participation in conversations as to how to best deliver our underwriting goals across the business. Working with moderate oversight - following guidelines and supported by senior members of the team


Key responsibilities


  • Understand and respond to Hiscox Europe`s pricing needs within set parameters and under guidance
  • Support the pricing of large risks, deals or new opportunities
  • Work with the underwriting community to build and maintain pricing algorithms
  • Produce profitability and exposure studies
  • Analyse books of business and suggest optimisation actions
  • Analysis conducted ranges from studies on very specific books for the underwriting community, through to outputs that feed into critical processes (such as reserving or reinsurance purchase).
  • Work closely with other members of business intelligence team to support the build of new predictive models, ensure accuracy and consistency of pricing / rating measurements as well as development of new measurements

  • Academic qualifications in Business Management, Finance or Engineering,
  • High end Excel competence
  • High level of numeric competence and excellent data gathering and manipulation skills
  • Strong analytical pragmatic reasoning skills
  • An aptitude for innovative problem solving
  • Good spread sheet skills and data manipulation
  • Good communication skills with ability to articulate the complex
  • Business/Customer Focussed
  • Deadline oriented
