Job Summary

ConvaTec currently uses SAP, Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase and Hyperion Planning to support financial consolidation, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Systems and Business Intelligence, the position of Financial Systems Business Partner will be the primary representative and point of contact between the diverse Hyperion user base (250 users) and the Hyperion Support and Development team. They will champion end-user effectiveness in all aspects of Hyperion team activity and be responsible for ensuring service delivery excellence with respect to all operational and development processes undertaken by the Hyperion team.

They will also perform a quality assurance role, overseeing the activities of the wider Hyperion team and assessing compliance with internal and external quality obligations.

The Business Partner will be expected to use their detailed user and business-process understanding to influence Hyperion team activity such that user?s interests are at the forefront of Hyperion operational and development initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Hyperion team prepares for and reacts to process requirements for the following:
  • Financial Close process including application reconciliation
  • Budget and forecasts
  • Master data governance
  • FP&A and statutory reporting and analysis
  • Security control;
  • For Hyperion (and in-scope SAP) application and process development activities:
  • Identify opportunities and prepare business cases for development initiatives targeted to enhance user effectiveness
  • Operate as the Senior User within the core project team steering committee of any development project. Ensure each project phase is focused on end user effectiveness
  • Mitigate the risk of end-user process interruption by ensuring users are appropriately prepared and supported through any process and application development initiative

  • Specific operational process responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring appropriate security controls are in place and applied across all systems that balance end user effectiveness with externally audited standards
  • Collaborating with the Hyperion Planning and HFM system leads throughout the month-end, Budget and Estimate processes, focusing on:

    • Ensuring metadata change is processed in accordance with CovaTec data governance principles
    • Ensuring databases are reconciled and any corrective action is determined in sufficient time to avoid impacting process milestones (e.g. end of Close, AOP completion, Estimate review)
    • Ensuring planning input processes are clearly defined and understood by the Hyperion team and that users are appropriately prepared and supported
    • Ensuring FP&A and statutory reporting obligations are fully supported by Hyperion system availability and accuracy

  • Operate as a functional subject matter expert for the following:
    • SAP GL and CO-PA operations
    • ICP elimination & COGS FX derivation
    • SAP vs Hyperion Integration
    • Hyperion HFM
    • Hyperion Planning
    • Hyperion Essbase
    • SmartView

  • Operate as a FP&A subject matter expert with regards to the production, interpretation and analysis of the following:
  • Monthly management pack
  • Quarterly and annual CFO pack
  • Bespoke Gross Margin analysis

  • Key customer / contact groups include:
  • Regional FP&A
  • Group FP&A
  • Group Reporting
  • Shared Services
  • SAP Centre of Excellence

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Accounting or IT
  • Qualified management accountant (CIMA or similar)
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Background in financial responsibility and business decision-making
  • Consultative and continuous improvement focused
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workloads and exercise a high degree of adaptability, when working in a complex work environment
  • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritise and implement all the elements required for the successful fulfilment of the Finance Systems and BI team?s objectives
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented, ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work well with all levels and departments within the company.
  • Proficiency in SAP GL, SAP CO-PA, Hyperion HFM, Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Smartview
  • PC proficiency (Excel, Word, Power point)
