Activity Outline: The grantee will collaborate in the development and implementation of a CMOS neuromorphic accelerator, in submicron technology, based on event computing ( spikes - event based computation) for real-time edge AI computation of sensory information in autonomous vehicles.

Work place: The work will be developed at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), under the scientific supervision of Professor Vítor Manuel Grade Tavares, and on an exclusive basis.
Grant duration: Initial duration of 12 months, with the predicted starting date in June 2021, on an exclusive basis eventually renewable but never exceeding the project duration.
In case of selection of a student enrolled in a course that does not confer an academic degree integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units, and in accordance with article 6 of the FCT Grant Regulations, the grant will not be renewed.
Note: The research grant will only be issued if the Financing Contract is signed, granting the necessary incentives to the project. If the Financing Agreement is not signed, the research grant will not be awarded.
Stipend: The grant stipend amounts to 1.104,64? according to the table of values of the grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).
The payment will be made by bank transfer.
Selection procedure:
The curriculum of the candidates will be evaluated based on the merit of the candidate:
a) Master degree field ? Electrical Engineering, Electronics or similar (up to 5 points);
b) Degree?s final classification (up to 5 points)

d) Publications in the area and motivation letter in English (up to 5 points).
The curriculum of each candidate will be evaluated in a 1-20 points scale. Candidates with less than 12/20 points will not be invited for the interview.
In the interview topics related with the work plan and the candidate?s CV can be discussed with the invited candidates. The candidate?s interview will be evaluated in a 1-20 points scale.
The final classification (FC) of each candidate will be calculated as: FC = 60% x Curriculum evaluation + 40% x Interview Evaluation.
Only candidates with a FC higher than 10 points can be selected.
