Itecons ? Institute of Research and Technological Development for Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability, based in Coimbra, informs that is open a tender for a Research Grant (BI, refª BI/03/2021/SEERFloor), for carrying out research under the research project PTDC/ECI-CON/3436/2020, entitled "Super Energy Efficient Radiant Floor Systems ? SEERFloor", supported by the budget of the Foundation for Science and Technology on its State Budget component, in the framework of the Call for SR&TD Project Grants in all Scientific Domains ? 2020. Scientific area: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related scientific areas. Previous experience in analysis of thermal and energetic behavior will be valued. Eligibility of candidates: PhD students or masters enrolled in non-academic degree courses. If the degree has been issued by a foreign institution, the candidate must have the degree recognized in Portugal. Work plan: The grant holder will participate in the following research tasks of the project: Task 2 - Definition of performance requirements, components and layers of the novel radiant floor system; Task 3 - Incorporation of by-products from the paper pulp and steel industry for system layers; Task 4 - Incorporation of phase change materials and functionalization; Task 5 - Radiant floor slabs construction and experimental campaign in working conditions - thermal and energy analysis; Task 6 - Advanced modelling optimization, energy simulation and control strategies; Task 7 ? Promotion and Dissemination. Applicable legislation and regulations: Law 40/2004, of August 18th, in its updated wording (FCT Scientific Research Scholarships Regulation); FCT Regulation No. 950/2019, of December 16th and Itecons Research Scholarship Regulations. Workplace: The work will be placed at Itecons - Institute of Research and Technological Development for Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability. Duration of the Scholarship: The research grant will have the duration of 12 months, possibly renewable for an equal period up to a maximum of 36 months, for PhD students. The research grant is limited by the duration of the research project. The renewal will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of article 18 of Itecons Research Scholarship Regulations. The research grant must be in an exclusive basis. Monthly allowance: The research grant monthly allowance is ?1 104,64 according to the scholarships table of FCT, I.P, in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores); the grant holder benefits also a personal accident insurance. To this amount may be added the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first degree, if the grant holder chooses to adhere this regime. Selection criteria: The candidates will be ranked according to the following formula , where AC is related to the curricular evaluation and E to the interview. The curricular evaluation (AC) criteria includes parameters as: (1) curricular assessment related to the objectives of the project; (2) previous experience in areas related to the topic of the research project. The formula for assessing the candidates in what concerns this criteria is , where M refers to the absolute merit (CV evaluation), in which the grade of the basic academic education (bachelor's degree, master's degree or integrated master's degree and doctor degree) is valued; PT to the adequacy of the candidate's profile to the required scientific area (scientific and/or professional experience, valuing above all the valences considered relevant for the performance of the research and technological development activities listed above) and CA to additional characteristics such as motivation, school quality and fluency in written and spoken English. Depending on the analysis of the documents submitted by the candidate the jury reserves the right to take one of the following positions: - Only the 3 best candidates will be selected for the individual interview; - If the quality of the candidates does not meet the requirements of the tender, the jury may propose not to hire any candidate. Deadline and way of the applications submission: The tender is open in the period from 31/05/2021 to 14/06/2021. Applications must include, under penalty of exclusion, the following documents: (1) Letter of introduction; (2) Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailed with the description of qualifications and enumeration of previous experience in research and/or development projects; (3) documents proving the applicant's eligibility, including certificates of qualification of all academic degrees achieved (with the final average and classification in all courses realized), document of recognizing of the degree in Portugal (if applicable), copy of document proving enrolment in a doctoral program leading to obtaining the respective academic degree or in non-academic degree course; (4) Declaration, under honor, signed by the candidate, of how he / she will exercise the functions of an exclusive scholarship holder, according Law 40/2004, of August 18th, in its updated wording (FCT Scientific Research Scholarships Regulation); FCT Regulation No. 950/2019, of December 16th and Itecons Research Scholarship Regulations; (5) Other documents which the applicant considers relevant to the evaluation.
