Scientific Area: Stem cell biology, Bioengineering.
Project Title: ?Harnessing endothelial plasticity for therapeutic vascularization of ischemic tissues: a bioengineering approach?.
Workplans: The work will be carried out within the scope of Tasks 3 to 5 of the project. Specific goals include: 1) derive and characterize endothelial cells, mesenchymal cells and cardiomyocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells; 2) establish multi-cell 3D microtissues; 3) characterize the regeneration potential of microtissues in vitro and in vivo.
The drafts of the contract fellowship and the evaluation report are available at the i3S Research Fellowships Regulation, published at https://www.i3s.up.pt/job-opportunities.php
Admission Requirements: Mandatory requirements - candidates should hold a PhD degree in Biology, Bioengineering or related areas and less than 3 years of postdoctorate. Advanced knowledge in stem cell biology and cell/molecular biology techniques. Excellent English communication skills. Preferential requirements: knowledge on transcriptomics, and in vitro culture of endothelial cells and cardiomyocytes. Animal experimentation: Course in Laboratory Animals Science.
In the event the doctorate degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, said degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 341/2007 of 12 October, and all formalities established therein must be complied with at the signature of contract.
The Doctorate beneficiary of this type of fellowship cannot exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship contract, an accumulated period of three years under this type of scholarship, continuous or not continuously calculated. The calculation of the three years period considers also all the host entities to which the Doctorate has been linked to by a postdoctoral fellowship.
