Call for ONE Initiation Research Fellowship

The Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) opens a call for an Initiation Research Fellowship (BII) funded by private funds.

Work Plan and Goals

  • Bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomics data from different datasets of human and mouse cell populations.
  • Development of appropriate analysis pipelines for bulk data and single cell transcriptomics.

Candidate?s Profile

  • Master degree in the field of Bioinformatics enrolled in a PhD study cycle.
  • Strong background in bioinformatics, including analysis of transcriptomics and single cell transcriptomics.
  • Working experience with immunology-related datasets.
  • Domain of English language.

Duration of Fellowship: 8 (eight) months on an exclusive basis and eventually renewable, not exceeding the eligible period of the project.

Law and Regulation: Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação approved by Law nr 40/2004, from 18th August in its current form (altered by Decree Law nr 123/2019, 28th August) and current iMM Regulation of Fellowships and Career By-Law and Performance Assessment Regulations.

Application process: The call starts on 4th May 2021 ends on 17th May 2021. Applications documents (Motivation letter; - Detailed CV; - MSc Degree certificate; Contact of one reference (Optional) and Document proving the enrollment in the PhD study cycle) should be sent to iMM Human Resources through the email [email protected], indicating the reference of fellowship (mandatory). The non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.

Predicted Start Date: May 2020


WorkPlace and Scientific Orientation: The work will be developed at LGRACA laboratory, of iMM Lisboa under the supervision of Professor Luís Graça.


Fellow Monitoring Centre: The monitoring centre works on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00AM to 6:30PM at Human Resources Office.


Monthly Remuneration: 1.104,64? according to the applicable regulation. The amount will be paid through bank transfer.


Necessary Documents for Applications: - Motivation Letter; - Detailed CV; - Master degree Certificate; - Contact of 1 reference (optional);

- Document proving the enrolment in the PhD study cycle. The non-compliance with these requirements determines the immediate rejection of the application.

Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated by a jury composed by Luís Graça, Válter Fonseca and Afonso Basto (all PhD?s).


Selection Method: Curricular evaluation (100%).


Deadlines and Submission of Applications: The call will be open for 10 working days, starting on 4th May and ending on 17th May 2021.
