The Trade Finance Operations team is a key department within BNP Paribas Portugal Branch. The team is responsible for the issuance and management of Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, Standby Letters of Credit, International cheques and Guarantees.

This position reports to the Head of Team of Trade Finance Operations.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check and prepare guarantees including full wording review, ensure potential risks concerning the wordings are raised, and either accepted by Legal/Business or mitigated by revision, making sure all ambiguities and contradictions are addressed;
  • Process Letters of Credit and Guarantees transactions in full compliance with international standard practices and regulations and internal Group procedures;
  • Handling and managing original trade documentation;
  • Perform all controls and ensure Know Your Transactions procedures;
  • Analysis and checking of documentation respecting ?4 eyes principle?;
  • Booking of Trade Finance transactions and Guarantees in the system;
  • Monitor the transaction lifecycle for Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Documentary Collections and International Cheques, end to end, escalating any potential issues to the Head of Team;
  • Acknowledge and resolve in a timely manner inquiries received from internal and external clients, providing technical advice and support;
  • Ensure guarantee issuance fees/commissions are booked correctly, reconciling guarantee commission calculations, arrange adjustments as necessary, following up overdue fees/commissions within agreed time lines;
  • Liaise with the several stakeholders on a daily basis (i.e. Local Coverage, European Corporate Hub, Client Service Desk, Legal Department, Compliance);
  • Production of monthly reports;
  • Additional tasks include the archive of original documentation and digital archive.

PROFILE

  • University degree in Business/Banking/Economics/Law or related area or relevant professional experience in Trade Finance Operations /Guarantees area;
  • At least 4 years of bank experience in Trade Finance Operations/Guarantees;
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese ? both verbal and written ? is mandatory;
  • Bank Guarantees (National and International) - good knowledge of the several types of Guarantees and its lifecycle is mandatory;
  • Trade Finance documents analysis experience is required;
  • Knowledge of UCP 600 /URDG 768/ ISBP;
  • Swift Alliance practice;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word;
  • Team player;
  • Excellent Risk awareness and strong attention to detail;
  • Strongly committed and collaborative mind-set;
  • Interpersonal and Customer orientation skills;
  • Organization and good sense of priorities and deadlines.
