We are currently recruiting for a Privacy Specialist for the group of companies in Portugal.

You will join Johnson & Johnson's Global Privacy team, assisting the Senior Privacy Manager and Cluster Leader in Spain with the implementation and management of our privacy compliance programme at our Portuguese Pharmaceuticals, Consumer and Medical Device companies, which includes R&D operations, HR, innovative technologies like IoT, sales, marketing, customer support, manufacturing and supply chain.

You will be based in our offices in Porto Salvo, Lisbon although currently we are largely working from home.


Key activities

Your main tasks will include:

  • Informing and advising (senior) management and staff of their privacy responsibilities and obligations and help them to develop a culture of compliance.
  • Identifying privacy risks and issues, including through Data Protection Impact Assessments, brought to you by the colleagues you support, and provide advise that helps them deploy privacy-by-design solutions.
  • Planning, deploying and supervising the local privacy program, in accordance with the global program.
  • Assisting the Law Department and Procurement, if needed, with the insertion of privacy language into contracts with third parties.
  • Deploying privacy training plans, in line with the regional approach.
  • Acting as first point of contact to the data protection authorities and individuals in Portugal.
  • Supporting the response to data subject requests and complaints.
  • Participating in the privacy incident response process and the execution of resulting action plans.
  • Maintaining the records of processing activities as required by art. 30 GDPR.
  • Exposure to certain regional and/or global projects from time to time.

Qualifications

Who we are Looking For!


  • You have 3-5 years of prior experience in a privacy/data protection role, preferably with good knowledge of the Portuguese data protection legislation.
  • You are able to maintain the highest standards of quality, compliance and accountability when advising colleagues and senior management.
  • You can engage with a range of business units, functions and uncover their objectives and needs.
  • You are able to translate a wide variety of privacy principles and, sometimes sophisticated, legal requirements into impactful solutions.
  • You are skilled at prioritising your work, facilitating, communicating and presenting.
  • You have a global mentality and are prepared to incorporate global standards and practices, for consistency and efficiency reasons.
  • You can work autonomously within a global team.
  • You are proficient in English and Portuguese (verbal and written). Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • You have a proven understanding of common IT systems, processes and information security practices.
  • An IAPP or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience of working in a matrix environment within a large multinational corporation is preferred.
