A research position for one Bolsa de Iniciação Científica (BIC) for a student enrolled in a Licenciatura degree (1 BIC) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações in the scope of the project TeamBIT, funded by the applicable financial framework (FCT/MEC through national funds and when applicable co-funded by FEDER ? PT2020 partnership agreement).

Work Objectives:
The general objective of this research is to work in the area of biomedical technologies and signal acquisition for distributed biomedical applications, namely: Laboratory and real-world benchmarking data acquisition; Dataset curation; Systematic analysis and reporting of the main findings. The student will be responsible for the creation and implementation of an annotated database for emotion recognition using physiological data, collected in an unconstrained group setting. This comprises: the development of an experimental protocol for data acquisition; Sensors calibration and placement; Knowledge of the data acquisition and emotion annotation hardware and software; Development of usability and mental load tests; Creation of supporting documentation; Management and recruitment of volunteers for the data acquisition; Dataset creation and management using the devised protocol. The data will be used to evaluate the comfort, usability and mental load of the sensors, acquisition and emotion annotation software tools, as well as the replicability of the setup in unconstrained scenarios.

Place of work:
The work will be developed at the Instituto de Telecomunicações based at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Professor Hugo Humberto Plácido da Silva.
Duration:
3 months, eventually renewed in accordance FCT scholarship regulations.
Start date: 01-04-2021 (or soon thereafter).

Monthly salary:
416.12?(net), according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.
