The Accountant provides financial accounting services for the operating entities in Spain and Portugal, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and Orica's financial controls and standards and statutory compliance at a regional level. This role is located in Lisbon, Portugal.

The position is part of a shared service finance centre, reporting into the Financial Controller for the Europe Middle East (EME) region based in the United Kingdom.

Description

  • Performs allocated month end processes and procedures in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monitors and complies with month end timetable
  • Prepares intercompany profit in stock calculations.
  • Performs Inventory Accounting Complies with accounting standards and Orica accounting policies
  • Prepares and reviews reconciliations for manual accounts including substantiation of reconciling items
  • Contributes to the delivery of timely and useful information and financial advice to enable the achievement of Orica's strategic plan
  • Proactively assists the business monitor and action key reconciliations such as assets under construction and construction accounting
  • Ensures stakeholder needs against agreed SLAs are met
  • Support finance projects as directed including driving improvement of quality in assigned sub-region and/or sub-process
  • Prepares business unit financial statements - business unit B/S, P&;L,
  • Cash Flow and consolidation of financial statements.
  • Prepares trial balance and issue other nominated financial and management reports
  • Assists with the annual budgeting process, consolidating and analysing results and liaising with business units on their submissions;
  • Assists with group forecasting (monthly and strategic) and reporting on results to management.
  • Prepares half-yearly audit packs, ensuring they are complete, accurate and issued within agreed timeframe
  • Participates in internal and external audit as required Assists with the preparation of the Balance Sheet Review template as required Acts as contact for External auditing requirements
