What started off as a 3 van rental company in Portugal, brought to reality in 2013, has become Europe's largest campervan rental company. With a fleet of 1.000+ vehicles, Indie Campers currently operates over 40 locations across Portugal, Spain, France, Italy (+ Sicily & Sardinia), Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Croatia, the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Austria, Sweden and opening more destinations at any moment.

As Fleet Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for leading our efforts around fleet planning, acquisition, financing and lifecycle management within one of our main business units - Asset Management. As a key member of this business unit, you will be expected to focus on identifying the opportunities, designing a long-term, sustainable, reliable and solid strategy for fleet asset management.

Primarily, you will need to guarantee the acquisition of new vehicle models (camper vans, motorhomes, automobiles and potentially others such as motorbikes, etc.) tailored to our customer needs by negotiating the best terms, SLAs and logistics with both OEMs and leasing partners. You will also be expected to coordinate closely with our vehicle remarketing business unit, to guarantee an end-to-end fleet management strategy and helping develop sales via both pre-existing dealer networks, fleet traders and new direct-to-consumer models. Additionally, you will need to building effective relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, helping drive product innovation, improvement of our commercial conditions and SLAs ultimately our customer experience across all geographies where Indie Campers is currently operating, as well fuel later expansions.

To achieve this, you will be expected to hire, train, and develop an effective team, as well as work with cross-functional departments at Indie Campers to drive business planning and sales strategy for the acquisition, in-fleet and de-fleet of both our new and pre-existing fleet, constantly guaranteeing alignment with the rental/operational business model's strategy.

Ultimately, the Fleet Strategy Manager is accountable for securing fleet renewal for Indie Campers, ensuring profitability for our main P&L line and overall customer satisfaction across our entire fleet.

Fleet Management Strategy: Work closely with our executive management team to build and iterate on an integrated business model that incorporates both our rental and vehicle sales business units. Identify and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders ranging from RV producers, dealer networks, leasing partners, Governments and all types of service providers, to develop an effective and far-reaching strategy for the acquisition, financing and lifecycle management of Indie Campers fleet.

Fleet Management Operations: Execute yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly strategies to source and negotiate the best commercial terms and SLAs with OEMs and financing partners. Create and help execute operational standards to maximize purchasing effectiveness and ensure consistency and efficiency in our in-fleet and de-fleet efforts. Coordinate with our operations and logistics department to guarantee delivery of our key partners on the contractualized operational SLAs. Use reports and dashboards to control all aspects of our fleet in coordination with our Finance and Operations teams, as well as making actionable business recommendations so as to guarantee alignment with Indie Campers overall business plan in close coordination with executive leadership.

Organizational Development: Support our efforts around sourcing, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of top talent for our asset management team. Set clear team targets and individual goals; hold teams accountable by driving performance management. Provide coaching and in-the-moment feedback to management. Create a culture of employee engagement and recognition.


Who you are:

  • 4-7 years of experience in strategic operations, planning and/or logistics for a multinational company, including 1+ years of people management experience.
  • Track record of launching and/or scaling new business units at high-growth international companies.
  • Early-career background in strategic consulting and/or investment banking, a strong plus.
  • Experience engaging and building rapport with customers and external partners across geographies and industries, at all levels.
  • Driven by outperforming yourself at the individual and team level, while being comfortable with change, being resourceful, and constantly hungry to learn.
  • Natural commercial mindset, with exceptional great communication, emotional intelligence and sales skills.
  • Strategic thinker, effective at using data and building control mechanisms, logical, and having natural aptitude to identify root causes of problems and executing solutions at scale.
  • Self-starter with ability to take on tasks independently and great team-player.
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal). Knowledge of German and/or French a strong plus.
