Bark & Birch is a hyper-growth startup company that is on a journey to become the number one global dog services company.

We currently train between 200 - 300 dogs per month, run doggy daycares, grooming vans, manufacture our own products and operate dog rescue centres whilst in the process of opening up vegan dog food & pet insurance departments. We are also getting ready for our investment round.

We are opening up our Central Lisbon office within the coming weeks which will be run by our CEO who is moving from the UK to Portugal.

Purpose of the Role:

As a member of a pivotal team your goal will be to expand our existing talent pool across all key functions; from dog behaviour professionals to marketing specialists. Paramount to your role will be ensuring Bark and Birch attracts top tier market candidates that not only demonstrate a high level of skill, but that also uphold the core values we as dog lovers are so passionate about.

Initially you will be working closely with the Operations Team, focusing on growing our network of remote dog trainers and behaviourists both in London and further afield.

As our sole internal recruitment specialist, you will need to be confident, personable with a can-do attitude. You will play an instrumental part in future business success. This is a 6 month full-time position with the possibility of future progression for the right candidate.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the full recruitment life cycle, from brief to on-boarding, providing best in class candidates and hiring manager experience
  • Work with the Head of Operations to understand resourcing needs and meet challenging timeframes
  • Advertise using relevant channels, media campaigns and recruitment events where appropriate
  • Define and implement attraction strategies; building relationships with local Job Centres, education institutions and established community networks to maximise opportunity
  • Provide guidance and insights on the candidate market and competitor landscape, advising alternative options to meet the business requirement
  • Undertake detailed screening to include competency-based interviewing where required

What we are looking for:

  • Solid understanding of best practice principles and processes within recruitment
  • Experience of direct hiring at high volume in either a sourcing or recruiter capacity
  • Confidence in all aspects of direct-hiring recruitment, including Boolean searching, writing job adverts, mining job-boards, etc.
  • Evidence of recruiting across a range of skill levels, managing multiple campaigns and roles at any one time
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with an ability to consult and challenge where appropriate
  • Clear and eloquent verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible attitude with an enormous amount of initiative ? we are a 24/7 business, this role will require the right candidate to go above and beyond if they are to be truly successful
  • Commutable distance from our Central London and Woking based offices
  • At least three 3 years of proven recruitment experience
  • A passion about dogs!
