CALL FOR RESEARCH GRANT
A call for one Post-Doctoral or Masterl research fellowship is open, in the framework of the inpactus - Innovative Products and Technologies from Eucalyptus project (reference: POCI-01-0247-FEDER-021874), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, through Portugal 2020 (PT2020), and by the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Programme (COMPETE 2020) in the following conditions:
Scientific area: Chemical Engineering.
Admission requirements: PhD in Chemical Engineering or Master in Chemical Engineering
Candidates with PhD must verify cumulatively the legal admission requirements (no. 3, article 7 of RBIFCT)
a) Doctoral degree obtained in the three years prior to the application submission;
b) Postdoctoral investigation carried out in an organization different to the organization where the doctoral degree was obtained;
c) Research activities do not require postdoctoral experience;
d) Research activities have a development and execution period of three years or less;
e) The fellowship does not exceed, with this contract, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of three years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated.
Candidates with master degree need to have a registration in the PhD program or other non-degree course.
?Courses not conferring an academic degree? are the courses referred to in paragraph e) of number 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of 24 March, in the current wording, provided that they are developed in association or cooperation between the higher education institution and one or more R&D units, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of article 3 of the Regulation of Research Grants of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P.
Candidates with Master degree will be hired only if PhD degree holders do not apply, or if they do apply, they are not from the scientific area, and / or do not have experience in the professional field requested by the call .
Work plan: The purpose of this fellowship is the development of research work within the framework of advanced postdoctoral training.
The main activities are related to the reduction of water consumption in the bleaching of pulp mills. In particular, the activities will include: the definition of bleaching processes and sequences; model the chemical equilibrium of species in pulp suspensions and filtrates; simulate the industrial configuration of the existent bleaching sequences and also the optimized ones.
The work also includes the production of technical-scientific documents related to the activities carried out (reports, scientific papers, etc).
Regime: The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellow is granted with the Fellow Statute of the UC, in its current wording, according to the Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow, and according to the Regulation of Research Grants of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., both in their current wording.
Location: Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Coimbra.
Duration: 12 months.
Renewal: Eventually renewable .

Financial conditions: The amount of the grant is ? [1616,00 in the case of Pos-Doc position or 1074,64? in the case of Master research fellowship corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en), plus social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the grant duration.
Selection methods: Curricular evaluation (50%) and interview (50%) to be carried out to the 2 best placed in the Curricular Evaluation.
Selection criteria: The curriculum evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
scientific publications (50%); competence in the English language (10%);
The Evaluation of the Interview to the two best classified in the Curricular evaluation will be made

Candidates with foreign academic diplomas are obliged to present records of the recognition of such diplomas according to the Portuguese law.

Additional information: The evaluation results will be announced within 90 days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the grant. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
