Linkfire is looking for a full-time Data Engineer, who will build a strong infrastructure for collecting and serving all our click and attribution data for consumption in our applications.

The Role:

To effectively fuel our data pipeline we need the support of a talented Data Engineer who has experience working with storing, processing, streaming and searching large amounts of digital data. Our data pipeline is powered by Kafka, Cassandra, Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow and AWS.

In this role, you?ll be working very hands-on. But you will also have the opportunity to define and impact your own work by actively contributing to our efforts in optimizing and improving our data architecture and business logic.

You will join our Data Pipeline development team and work closely with our Data Engineering Lead, while also cooperating closely with our other teams that consume our data. Here, you will contribute to the team?s goal of creating a strong infrastructure for collecting and serving all our click and attribution data, with the ultimate vision to introduce predictive analytics.

You are a good match for this role if you are capable of developing and improving our data pipeline, but feel equally motivated by having a higher level of task variation - including ad-hoc data tasks or collaboration with BI stakeholders.


Overview of technologies in our data pipeline:

Storage: Cassandra, S3, Druid, Elasticsearch, SQL Server
Messaging: Kafka, AWS SQS
Languages: Python, Bash
Orchestration: Airflow
Deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins


Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the team, bring the development of our data pipeline forward
  • Implement, configure, monitor and improve a strong foundation for collecting, processing and surfacing our data
  • Write, maintain, optimize, refactor, and own robust code
  • Thoroughly test and document your code and fix issues
  • Monitor applications in production and improve on our existing monitoring set-up
  • Collaborate with our Infrastructure team on building, maintaining and optimizing the underlying infrastructure for the data pipeline
  • Actively contribute to the decision making for data pipeline and back-end implementations
  • Stay updated on the fields of python development and data engineering

Desired Abilities and Skills

  • 5+ years in Data Engineering
  • Knowledge of Python is a strong asset
  • Experience in one or more of the following: pandas, structlog, boto3, pyspark
  • Experience working with distributed systems like Kafka, Druid, Cassandra or similar
  • Experience in unit and integration testing
  • Strong hands-on skills and excellent team player
  • Fluent in English
  • Motivated by and comfortable with working in an international environment with colleagues in different locations and timezones

Additionally

  • Interest in machine learning
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud services
  • Familiarity with kibana, grafana, graylog is an advantage
  • Having worked within the Scrum framework is a plus
