THE ROLE & TEAM

Working with the Payments and Internal Tools team, led by the Head of Payments and Internal Tools we have a great opportunity for a full time Product Owner based from Porto office.

Within your role you will have the opportunity to work on the breadth of the core services and internal tools used by the Hostelworld Group in running operations and maintaining control as a PLC. Partnering with diverse and global colleagues from Finance, Payments, Engineering, Customer Support and Supply across all our locations you will get to collaborate on exciting projects and really contribute to Hostelworld?s success.

We are looking for someone with a background in an agile development environment who enjoys working in challenging product ownership roles within a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

You will be responsible for executing on tooling and process improvements that serve our internal teams and enable our business to scale.

The ability to absorb complex cross-functional information on systems & internal team requirements will be essential for success in the role. Candidates will need to be quick on the uptake, motivated and pro-active.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Working closely with Head of Payments & Internal tools to understand & own fully the business requirements
• Understand, participate and proactively engage with strategic conversations on high-level roadmap and vision.
• Working closely with Strategic Business Ops & Finance leaders to understand & translate business requirements
• into product specifications.
• Work closely with technical team to understand & clearly communicate development requirements of product.
• Delivering a replacement Tooling ecosystem and deprecation of legacy ecosystem to satisfy organisational requirements.
• Working with key cross-functional stakeholders to align and prioritise delivery programme requirements.
• Prepare / present regular updates & demos of work to cross-functional stakeholders
• Deliver clear, concise updates on project progress to senior management

WHAT WE?RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Qualifications:

• 5+ years proven track record in product owner roles, owning & delivering internal, financial and reporting products, ideally within a scaling Tech company
• Experienced at leading the delivery of technical products by Engineering teams, driving & owning squad execution to highest standards
• Experience across creating, upgrading and deprecating internal systems & processes
• Strong background in successfully delivering cross-functional project work
• Background in working with Agile methodologies, e.g. Scrum
• Experience with key Tools ? e.g. Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office. Exposure to cloud technologies (i.e. AWS, GCP, Azure etc) is a nice to have for this role
• Proven ability to work confidently with data in multiple forms ? process maps, system documentation, numerical dashboards (e.g. Tableau, Adobe Analytics) etc

Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to quickly absorb & fully understand complex numerical & technical information, and explain it to functional & non-functional teams
• Work comfortably with both ambiguity and tightly defined requirements
• Highly analytical & questioning mindset is essential, digs in to find root cause issues
• Excellent collaborative skills, can influence through informal authority
• Consistently finds solutions & delivers
• Adaptable, flexible, and able to change tack quickly where required
