POSITION OVERVIEW

Perform and improve, under supervision, management accounting period close responsibilities, standard cost processes, variance analysis, projected unit costs and margin analysis. Utilize and understand system data and reports, existing complex Access databases, and Excel spreadsheets. Develop ongoing process improvements for period close and manufacturing analysis that leverages existing opportunities and contributes to value creation.

PRIMARY DUTIES

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING


  • Perform multiple tasks in the monthly close process (including monthly Cost Runs)
  • Verify accuracy and make corrections to data
  • Reconcile discrepancies in inventory
  • Improve general ledger linkages to detailed transactions, and improve the integrity and internal control of data, systems, and processes
  • Make suggestions for improvements that are consistent with 6 Sigma quality methods
  • Utilize and understand system data, existing complex Access and Excel databases, to perform multiple tasks and data verification
  • Manage daily queries - Ad Hoc Business, Reporting and Analysis requests

MANUFACTURING ANALYSIS

  • Perform period close manufacturing analysis
  • Interact with ERP system to calculate, review, and correct actual unit cost variances from standards
  • Utilize and develop delivery tools for variances for RM price and usage, labor and overhead, efficiency and spending and volume
  • Design and develop tools to deliver data and information to financial analysts, plants and business units
  • Partner with plants to improve data integrity, analysis and build understanding of cost, margin, and value creating opportunities.

  • Work, when necessary, with cost allocation process development team to design databases that enable more accurate allocations to business units to drive cause/effect relationships between business decisions and results.

Required Skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor?s degree with major in accounting/finance
  • Entry Level position
  • 0 -2 years related experience
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and relational skills.
  • Positive and enthusiastic team player and developing leader.
  • Good organization skills

Strong IT skills:

  • Strong desire and initiative to learn Microsoft Access, Excel and SQL
  • Strong desire to develop competency in system query skills, data mining, and database creation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with an ERP system ? special focus on SAP
  • Industry internship experience
  • Microsoft Access experience
  • GAAP knowledge and experience

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Corporate office environment
  • Extensive computer work
  • Position may require physical activity such as filing of documents
  • Travel to other plants in EIMEA is likely about 5-10%
