A research position for one Research Grant (?Bolsa de Investigação?) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the project RETIOT- Reflectometry Technologies to Enhance the Future Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems, reference POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432, funded by Fundo Europeu de Desenvolvimento Regional (FEDER) within Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização (COMPETE 2020).

Admission Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree (Licenciate) in Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent with with knowledge on the area of communication systems, great-motivation and ability for teamwork. The scholarships referred to in this call may be used to carry out initial R&D activities by students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, in a degree, an integrated master's or a master's degree graduates and also who are enrolled in non-conferencing courses academic degrees integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

  • Work Objectives:
    RETIOT aims at developing a photonics-based network, integrating sensing and communication features, able to operate in different RF bands, including the millimeter wave band, in a fully software defined configuration. The selected candidate will study and evaluate strategy to localize fast moving targets using beam steering approaches.
    Applicable legislation:

    Place of work:
    The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Coimbra, under the supervision of Professor Maria do Carmo Medeiros
    Duration:
    4 months with the possibility of renewal. Start date: 1st of November 2020 (or soon thereafter).
    Monthly salary:
    798,00 ? (net), according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

    Candidates may be interviewed for clarification of any aspect related to the above criteria
    Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to:
    F = C1 x 70% + C2 x 20% + C3 x 10%
    In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...
    The Jury has the right to not admit any of the candidates that applied for this position whenever they consider that no candidate meets the minimum requirements for the position.
