A call for applications for a Research Assistant is open at Nova School of Business and Economics (NOVA SBE) under the Project Financial Literacy of Managers and the Efficiency of Capital Allocation in Corporations funded by IGC ? International Growth Centre, with the following conditions:

Work Plan: The research team composed by Claudia Custódio (Imperial College London), Daniel Metzger (Stockholm School of Economics) and Diogo Mendes (Nova SBE) seeks two research assistants (RAs) to integrate the last stage of an ongoing research project in Maputo, Mozambique. The project aims to understand how financial literacy and experience of top executives translates into better corporate financial practices. The sample is composed by 100 of the largest companies in Mozambique in a diversified pool of sectors, including oil, mining and distribution companies.

Working place and duties: Selected candidates will conduct field work, in Maputo, Mozambique. Field work includes meeting top executives of companies in the sample (CEO and CFOs). During these meetings, executives will be required to answer surveys as well as report financial data about the company. RAs will work directly with the research team, who will be based in Maputo during part of the project. The team may also consider a position for a remote RA, who will base in Lisbon.

Duration: The work will take place in Maputo, from September to November 2018 (3 months).

Admission requirements: Fluency in Portuguese and English is required. Candidates shall be available to integrate the project from September to November and have knowledge on basic accounting.

Compensation: All expenses are covered by the project (travel, accommodation, visa, insurance and per diem allowance). There is no salary/monetary compensation. The researchers are, however, available to advise and supervise masters? thesis related to financial literacy of executives, corporate governance, and other related topics. Masters? thesis can be done with data collected during the field work.

Application period: The call is open from 6Th July to 20th July. Applications will be analyzed on a rolling basis.
