Research Technician Grant (1 vacancy) Reference: REWATER/BTI/2018-025 A competition is open for the attribution of 1 Research Technician Grant (BTI - Bolsa de Técnico de Investigação) in the framework of project REWATER - Sustainable and Safe Water Management in Agriculture: Increasing the Efficiency of Water Reuse for Crop Growth While Protecting Ecosystems, Services and Citizens? Welfare, with reference WaterJPI/0008/2016, within the R&D Institution CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research), supported by the ERA-NET COFUND WaterWorks 2015, Water JPI, according to the following conditions: 1. Scientific area: Environmental Sciences 2. Admission requirements: The candidate must hold a three-year basic degree in the field of biochemistry, biology, environmental sciences or related fields (with classification equal or higher than 15 values out of 20). Experience in molecular biology, conducting assays with microalgae and determination of molecular biomarkers is of preference.

3. Work plan: The research plan involves the following tasks: - Maintain laboratory cultures of the test organisms to be used in the work; - Assess water quality using ecotoxicological bioassays and biomarkers; - Participate in the planning of all experiments; - Participate in the development of genomic studies; - Perform data analysis, discuss results obtained and produce results and progress reports. 4. Work place: The work will be carried out at CIIMAR and in the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, Groups NUTRIMU, BBE and METOX, under the scientific supervision of Prof.

António Paulo Carvalho, Prof. Luís Oliva Teles and Doctor Laura Guimarães. 6. Duration of the grant: Duration of six (6) months, starting in August 2018, under the regime of exclusive dedication, eventually renewable according to legal terms, up to 12 months.

7. Monthly maintenance stipend: The monthly maintenance allowance is ?745 (seventy hundred and forty five Euros ? Taxe Free), in agreement with the monthly maintenance stipend table of the grants directly attributed by FCT, I.P. within the country ( plus voluntary social security and a personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made monthly by bank transfer.

8. Selection methods: Ranking of candidates will be performed by a global evaluation based on: - Evaluation of the Curriculum Vitae - 25%; - Experience with ecotoxicological bioassays and biomarkers - 25%; - Interview ? 50% (Only the first 10 candidates, with an evaluation >40% in the sum of the two previous criteria, will be interviewed). If the candidates do not show up in the interview it will be considered as a withdrawal of application, being those candidates excluded from the competition. The jury reserves the right to not assign the research technician grant if none of the candidates meets all requirements and match the desired profile.

Form of Advertising/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be published through a list sorting the candidates according to their attributed mark, on the CIIMAR website and by e-mail; in case of disagreement, the candidates have a 10-working day term in which to contest the decision, if he/she so wishes, as provided for in the Código do Procedimento Administrativo in a preliminary hearing setting. 11. Deadline for application and presentation of applications: The competition is open from 6th July to 19th July 2018.
